The Paris Saint-Germain Academy North America Cup was a spectacular showcase!
In a remarkable showcase of young talent and football prowess, the 3rd edition of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy North America Cup, held from January 13th to 15th, 2024, in South Florida, was marked by brilliant team performances and the unity amongst the PSG Academy family across the continent.
Overseen by Benjamin Houri, Technical Director of the PSG Academy Worldwide, nearly 600 young talents from eight Academy locations in the United States and Canada, including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Miami, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Orlando, and British Columbia, displayed their skills. They played with heart and determination in front of an enthusiastic crowd of family and fans, competing across age groups from U9 to U13.
This year’s tournament was particularly momentous as it introduced the first girls’ competition, affirming Paris Saint-Germain Academy USA’s dedication to championing women’s soccer. The U12 girls’ category illuminated the potential within our ranks, with Phoenix, Miami, and Chicago Academies providing thrilling matches for all in attendance.
Hosted at the PSG Academy Campus, the Cup featured facilities and amenities of the highest professional quality, offering an authentic tournament experience. Featuring professional referees and recorded footage of the finals, the excitement was palpable from the first to the last whistle.
The celebration extended beyond the matches, creating a cultural spectacle with vibrant opening and closing ceremonies, an engaging fan zone, and invaluable learning opportunities. The event served as a comprehensive educational experience, with workshops and expert-led seminars on development, athleticism, and education, underlining the significance of achieving excellence in every arena.
Benjamin Houri’s involvement was a key highlight, as he shared the latest insights and reinforced the Paris Saint-Germain coaching philosophy with all Academy coaches. The coaching clinic he led was a nexus of learning and exchange, furthering the connection between our North American talent and the rich heritage of Parisian football.
